The Slow Fade: When the Blogging Buzz Fades Out

Putting gas back on the pedal….

Remember that burst of energy? The daily posts, photo editing , witty remarks, incessant tagging etc.

Lately, my online presence has become… a lot quieter. I’ve taken my foot off the pedal, and the momentum has gradually dwindled to a near standstill.

It’s a familiar story, I think. We all start with the best intentions. A content calendar bursting with ideas, a burning desire to share thoughts, creations, our work with the world. But life happens. Work gets busy and sometimes, you just need a break. And that break, initially intended to be a short pause, can stretch… and stretch… and suddenly, weeks have passed.

For me, it started with a slight dip in posting frequency. Instead of three blog posts a week, it became two. Then one. Social media followed a similar trajectory. The daily witty observations became sporadic, the carefully crafted photos less frequent.

It’s not that I’ve lost my passion for sharing my celebrant experiences and the ideas are still there, lurking in the back of my mind. The desire to connect and share hasn’t disappeared. It’s more like a muscle that’s atrophied from lack of use. Starting again feels daunting.

And then there’s the guilt. The little voice whispering, “You should be posting! You’re neglecting your audience! You’re losing momentum!” It’s a tough balance. Giving yourself grace and acknowledging that breaks are okay, while also fighting the inertia that comes with a prolonged period of inactivity.

I recently did a ten day meditation retreat which was a nudge back to true peace and well being but the world of illusion seems to be hailing me back to work 🙂

So, here I am. Acknowledging the slow fade. The next step? Well, that’s the tricky part. Do I try to rekindle the flame? Do I embrace the quiet? Or do I find a new rhythm, a new way to connect that feels more sustainable? I’m not sure yet. But I’m thinking about it. And maybe, just maybe, this blog post is the first step back.
