What are your views on Spiritual Matters?

It’s now the month of February 2016 and before you read on I’d like to underline that even though I  perform “Non-Religious” ceremonies  I am happy to perform symbolic rituals which can be described as “spiritual”.

We were performing spiritual rituals long before “religion” appeared in our history and a symbolic candle – lighting can convey a powerful , respectful message for atheists and theists alike.

This morning I received this email from one of my brides who’s filling out her questionnaire.

“Hi Sandie,

Can you tell me what do you mean by your question “‘ What are your views on Spiritual Matters?'”

Now , I admit this is a very broad question.

I guess I don’t want to influence or judge anyone’s answer in any way so I’ll rephrase and turn it into a few questions.

Do you think there is  a metaphysical realm of reality?

Do you think there are other dimensions of reality of which  we may not be conscious ?

Do you believe in a Creator of the Universe, God, or Conscious Spirit ?

Do you think we have a higher self?

Do you believe we are all linked to each other through an invisible, conscious force?

Do you believe in life before birth or after death?

Many of my clients just reply “No” to these questions .

………or they  just think it’s all a load of hooey!

Others write long paragraphs about what they believe.

I’d like to share one of my groom’s answers with you (with his permission)

” I believe we are all here for a reason, and that everything happens for a reason. I believe we are beings of infinite potential and possibility. I believe our soul/spirit is eternal, it always has been and always will be. I believe that the purpose of life is to remember who we are and why we are here. I believe this is a pivotal point in history – a time where never before has “the system” been laid so bare for all to see. The darkness that we see throughout the world today is providing humanity and our collective consciousness with a huge opportunity to turn things around and bring us back to where we ought to be – living in harmony with the Earth and each other. The light will ultimately shine through and illuminate the dark. I believe we are under-going a shift in consciousness and that we are part of a spiritual evolution. It’s a very exciting time to be alive. I believe that love conquers all and love is the answer to everything.”

This was a  bride’s response to this question.(With her permission)

” I’m agnostic. I feel like there is some power or reason behind things. I think people are intrinsically good and we should strive to be good and kind. I like elements of each religion and the wisdom of some of their stories. At different times, I like thinking that my life is as insignificant as a tiny wave in the ocean, but at other times that makes me sad and I find it comforting that our actions have consequences and we are all a link in a long chain.”

I am so happy to know that young people are not pessimistic about the world we are going to leave them…….

I’m writing a ceremony for a very spiritual couple at the moment and I’m surfing the net for an appropriate reading about Love .

I happen on this one by

― Thích Nhất Hạnh,

“Through my love for you I want to express my love for the whole cosmos, the whole of humanity and all beings. By living with you I want to learn to love everyone and all species. If I succeed in loving you, I will be able to love everyone and all species on Earth….This is the real message of Love.”

So I’m reading this and copying and pasting it . Then translating it into french ( bi-lingual ceremony) and all this time my cat Kenya, is miaowing at my side wanting attention! I ignore her and get on with work. This cat does NOT give up! She has the most annoying high pitched, whining miaow and she keeps it up long enough to get me irritated ……I am just about to boot her outside with an exasperated huff when I realise that I’m writing about loving all the species on the earth!

I pick Kenya up and give her 5 mins LOVE ( which I enjoy too) and she leaves me alone and hops onto her chair purring.

Just a bit of LOVE transforms our relationships with those around us.

So is that the next difficult question I should ask?

What is LOVE? How would you describe it?

PS I can find lovely non-spiritual readings too!!

Have a Nice Day……………….:)
